COVID-19 Updates: What You Need to Know
During this difficult time, VA Palo Alto Health Care System is making your safety and well-being a priority. We are prepared to care for Veterans that test positive for COVID-19 and are following proper CDC protocol to maintain the safety of staff and Veterans on our campuses.
We encourage everyone to follow CDC guidelines for your own safety. You can also visit our Coronavirus FAQs webpage to find many answers to questions about testing, urgent care, medications and other important measures being taken by VA at this time.
Here are the latest updates and guidelines from VA Palo Alto Health Care System.
- Experiencing symptoms? If you have symptoms of fever, cough, and shortness of breath, please call our Advice Nurses at (855) 632-8262 BEFORE going to a clinic, urgent care center, or emergency room. Calling first helps us protect you, medical staff, and other patients. You can also send your doctor a secure message through My HealtheVet.
- Changes to Visitor Policy: To protect Veterans and staff, visitors are not allowed within our facilities at this time. The restriction also applies to patients’ families in the Fisher House and Defenders Lodge. We encourage visiting your loved one virtually, and can help to support video and telephone calls. - Campus Screening: We are screening everyone who enters our campus. Please make sure to cooperate at check points. If you are cleared to enter, you will receive a bracelet. This bracelet is required for access. Anyone with the symptoms of fever, cough, or who have traveled outside of the country will be taken to our triage area.
- All elective surgeries and procedures have been cancelled until further notice. Any patients that fall into this category have or will be notified. Learn more
